Fieldwork in Rehoboth

The institute of land, livelihoods and housing in collaboration with GIZ-ISUD project embarked a full week of data collection in Rehoboth. The fieldwork took place from the 25 – 31st of March 2026. The activity was done in three informal settlements in Rehoboth (Namibia). Where the data collected will be used to assess informal rental housing and associated gender practices and household decision-making patterns, to inform inclusive, fit-for-purpose urban planning and policy responses.
The team which included students from the DASP and DLSS, committed neighbourhood volunteers with support from our partners GIZ and NHAG. After 4 full days of data collection the last day was used for a focused data verification session. This allowed for the to be confirmed and where mistakes were made could be fixed.
This research study aligns with the work of the institute as well as with the work GIZ is currently doing in Namibia.
